How long with DCI and what brought you here?
Angela: I’ve been here at Direct Choice for two years. Previously, I was a Senior Accountant for an affordable housing non-profit. Although rewarding, I eventually realized I need a position with a company that was less frenetic and overly stressful. That’s what led me here.
What keeps you there?
Angela: While I still take on responsibilities beyond accounting, I’ve always thrived at smaller companies. I prefer the friendly atmosphere and respect that everyone has for one another.
What’s the worst job you ever had? For me, it would be my first job as a dishwasher.
Angela: I can’t say that any job, even retail work I had through college, was a negative for me. I’ve always learned something valuable and met great people throughout my working life.
You have a very calm and composed quality, yet you live a very active life. Tell me a little about that.
Angela: In addition to spending a lot of time with friends and family, I serve as the secretary of my church and as a financial member of my sorority which allows me to vote and run for office in my chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha. In fact, I recently joined some of my sorority sisters who work in the UAE on a 9-day trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi while vacationing with a group of 20 family and friends from the States. Since traveling is my primary hobby, I was excited to visit the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building), the largest mosque and experience the diverse culture of the UAE.
Do you have any trips planned for 2019?
Angela: Yes, I have two trips thus far planned for next year: the first is a cruise with one of my best friends for over 30 years to Bermuda where we will both celebrate our birthdays. I also look forward to catching up with an old co-worker and friend who lives there. My second trip will be to Charlotte, NC to visit my sister and host our family reunion. I am also in the planning stage of my 2020 cruise to the Mediterranean.
